| − | Kotarou is just wandering [[Martel]]'s inner structure when he hears someone call him stupid, he wonders if what he hears was real or not until it starts laughing. It tells her that Akane can not take it (Life) anymore and that she cannot put up with it anymore. Kotarou realizes that the voice is female and sounds like Akane. The voice says that Akane wants to end it, Kotarou asks what she (The Voice) is doing up their and what she means by 'end it'. The voice tells him that Akane wants to bring everything to an end, Kotarou asks if she (The voice) is just going to stand her and watch her do it. When the voice laughs, Kotarou asks if its going to just kill time singing until its all over, the voice asks him if he's prefer that we attack them (Akane and the Disciples), but Kotarou rejects that thought. The voice tells him that there is nothing that Akane can do anymore and no matter what the planet is going to fail. Kotarou tells the voice that even if thats true, 'he' does not want to give up and do nothing. The voice tells him that that is because he is strong. Kotarou says that he is not asking everyone else to be strong and that he'll do whatever it takes to save everyone if only the voice would giv him an order. (Kotarou wonders who or what he is talking to). The voice tells him that no matter what he does, the flow (Situation) will not change, destruction is assured, all life must end eventually and that this is no different; because that is the will of the planet. Kotarou states that he'll fight anyone in order to stop, but the voice states that their is no real enemy; he tells the voice that whatever the problem is that he will solve it, the voice tells him that their was never a problem to begin with. Kotarou states that he knows that he is not smart and that he's killed people but he is on its (The Voice's) side and asks it to make use of him. The voice pities because he does not know that people suffer as long as they live, it states that all lives (Human and animal) must endure the suffering of all substances, the cries of all things, and says that that is the answer. Kotarou says that humans thought that they had found solutions to all of those things but now humans are fighting each other (The situation was screwed from the start). The voice tells him that Sakura Kashima thought that everything would end with her generation, that she knew that the life of the planet would not last, it was hard for her to accept that humanity was devouring that life, and that she wanted to give back to the planet that was left (By using the Key's [[Salvation|salvation]]). Kotarou realizes that the salvation that the Key is said to bring doesn't necessarily benefit humans, he also relizes that he did not think things through when he agreed to help Akane. The voice states that it pities them; Sakura worked really hard at first but things did not change and living was still suffering. Kotarou questions the point of humans having intelligence if it only brings them suffering. The voice tells him that the way to save everyone is through salvation, but Kotarou objects to the very idea since it'll cause a 'genocide' on a global scale. The voice tells him that Akane is no good anymore, that she is just like Sakura and has been possessed by the Holy Woman. Kotarou states that if that is their only option they might as well keep living like they currently are until the planet dies; he realizes that that is exactly what Guardian wants and curses his own powerlessness. He asks why he was not born sooner and states that if he was born 'fifty' or even 'ten-years' earlier so that he could've stopped this. (Kotarou is actually ten years older than he appears). He asks if he has to give up (On life) like Akane, the voice pities him again and tells him to choose it and asks him that when salvation comes to let Kotarou take it with him because Akane won't let him. Kotarou asks where the voice wants to be taken, the voice tells him that when the time comes; he'll know. Kotarou asks if the voice can see the future, but it denies having that ability; it had just chosen one of the things that it wants and that if it has Kotarou thats all it needs and it won't think about the rest of the world. Theres nothing it can do to save the world so its better off not thinking about it. Kotarou states that he already has Akane as his girlfriend and rejects its feelings. The voice tells Kotarou to choose it and find happiness, that is the final forbidden fruit that they can give to humanity, its the last one. It asks if that is what Kotarou wants and states that they get along so well together. The voice then disappears. |

The Voice is a mysterious character only heard by Kotarou in Akane's Route.
Synopsis[]
After, in Akane Senri's route, she becomes the Holy Woman and the situation in Gaia worsens, Kotarou Tennouji hears a mysterious voice mocking him while he's pondering. He immediately identifies it as being exactly the same as Akane's voice.
Story[]
Kotarou tries to go out to the roof of the Martel building to no avail, since it has no roof access, trying to get some fresh air. When he does, he hears a mysterious voice that sounds exactly like Akane's mocking him, talking about various things that only Akane and him would know. Particularly, it brings up how Akane wants to end her life and the world with it, and that things are hopeless.
Due to the fact that the voice mentions the Key being the true salvation of the world, it's highly improbable for this voice to be anyone but the collective being that is the consciousness of the Holy Woman. This theory is even more supported by the fact that Kotarou receives these words from above--meaning, from the place where Akane will attempt to recreate the Key's song of salvation later on. By this logic, "Choose me, not Akane." would mean choose salvation--choose the destruction of the Key's song, and not saving Akane.
